some glasses sitting broken / on the table by the bed / i so badly want to pick them up / and look them through the lense / but if i do what will i see / the world in a light shone less clearly / or what you've seen / and where you've been / and things like they should be // i'll never look at my life / through a grandpa's eyes / i want to be the man you were / i want to see your unskewed view / but never will i know of life / what grandpas' eyes see through // the day i saw you in the hall / is burnt into my brain / the pain inside of losing you / was killing me the same /and then that night next to your bed / your hand held tight in mine / the final breath / your whispers left / in my heart and in my mind // i'll never look at my life / through a grandpa's eyes / i want to be the man you were / i want to see your unskewed view / but never will i know of life / what grandpas' eyes see through // the day i saw you cry / i was smashed from the inside / i need you here to hold my head / to help me stop this nonsense / tread on water, walk the sea / i need you here right next to me
